Students who are considered 10th Graders (Passed 6 credits with one being in English and one being in Math) are eligible to take Driver's Ed in their second year of school. This course is paid for by the State of Delaware. Before your driver's education course begins here are a few tips to get you ready...
- The months leading up to your Driver's Education course, you should sit in the front seat of a car as a passenger. Put your cell down and pay close attention to your surroundings. Soon you will be navigating the roads by yourself and you will want to have an sense of direction, especially in your hometown.
- Make sure you are passing your other academic courses. It is required that you are doing well in all classes in order to get your blue slip.
- Ask questions about situations that you encounter while someone else is driving. These conversations are great after a trip has ended to reflect on what to do in specific situations.
- Can you find your way to and from from a destination? You should practice advising your parent as if you are the navigation system for their vehicle. Advice them in "turn by turn" way on how to navigate to and from trip.
